I wanted to take a moment to write and explain our decision to change our endorsement of the Libertarian nomination for President from Jacob Hornberger to Justin Amash.
First off it has been no secret going back to last year, and before, that we have been big fans and proponents of Justin Amash and his potential run for President. We have written numerous articles last year and before urging the Congressman to run for President and to do it as a Libertarian. We even suggested that if he had run as an Independent we would support that candidacy over any potential Libertarian nominee in 2020.
We made the decision awhile ago to endorse Jacob Hornberger because he was the best candidate running for President. He has been a champion and warrior for the Libertarian cause and represents the ideals of our mission here at The Liberty Herald. We made the decision to move forward with Hornberger partly because we didn’t think the Amash campaign was going to happen. Even back then we still pledged that if Amash ran we would endorse him. This has nothing to do with Jacob Hornberger, but rather the dynamic nature and national attention that comes with Justin Amash. Hornberger is not a name that people have heard of, but Amash is. To us both of them are very comparable when it comes to policy and thinking and both of them represent the values and beliefs of our site and the Mises Caucus of the party.
We informed the Hornberger campaign of our intention to change our endorsement to Amash before we made the announcement. Again, it has nothing to do with Jacob Hornberger and what we believe about him. At the end of the day part of our mission is to get Liberty minded people the venue to inform and educate the masses and we support the election of these type of people to public office. We believe that Justin Amash has the high potential to be elected to the Presidency whereas Hornberger might be able to pull out the elusive 5% the LP wishes for every Presidential cycle.
We are a political news website dedicated to political commentary that advances the principles of economic and personal liberty.
We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized. Consequently, we defend each person’s right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power.
This is the basis on which we conduct business and advocate Libertarian principles. We appreciate everyone for reading our material and promoting Liberty to the masses.
