Rise of the Libertarian-2016 Edition

The best thing to happen to the Libertarian Party and movement in this country? The rise of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.  Never have both major party candidate seen such high disapproval ratings, and with that dissatisfaction comes the yearning for better choices.

The better choices lie within the Libertarian Party. I have many Republican friends from my days as a leader in that party (2003-2007).  There are some that look down on the Libertarian movement for many different reasons, and there are some that believe they are Libertarian but just don’t know it yet.

Therefore, I will do my patriotic duty and provide those lost Republicans with a sense of purpose and relief by highlighting the main points of the Libertarian platform; courtesy of the Libertarian Party website:

1.0 Personal Liberty

Individuals should be free to make choices for themselves and to accept responsibility for the consequences of the choices they make. Our support of an individual’s right to make choices in life does not mean that we necessarily approve or disapprove of those choices. No individual, group, or government may initiate force against any other individual, group, or government.

Libertarians want all members of society to have abundant opportunities to achieve economic success. A free and competitive market allocates resources in the most efficient manner. Each person has the right to offer goods and services to others on the free market. The only proper role of government in the economic realm is to protect property rights, adjudicate disputes, and provide a legal framework in which voluntary trade is protected. All efforts by government to redistribute wealth, or to control or manage trade, are improper in a free society.

The protection of individual rights is the only proper purpose of government. Government is constitutionally limited so as to prevent the infringement of individual rights by the government itself. The principle of non-initiation of force should guide the relationships between governments.

Each one of these is just a snapshot that contains specific information about the different issues that apply to each section. You can click on the link and learn more about the issues that apply to that section, but this gives a good overall idea where the Libertarian Party stands.

The chance is here to do something new this election. Ex-Republicans and Ex-Democrats dissatisfied with their choices can change the status quo in this country and elect a new breed of thinking that generally aligns with the America people.

We love freedom and freedom alone. We are not all drug addicts and hippies and isolationists. We believe that personal responsibility is the fundamental aspect of thinking and governing. We believe that people can make their own life decisions and not have the government think for them. If this is something you can get behind then welcome to the Libertarian Party and the lets change the world!
